Honestly most of it is probably just past imperceptiveness on your part, and now that you're paying more attention to things after possibly noticing one, you're just realizing other things you didn't see.
What you should realize is that reality changes when you pay attention to it. History, maps, those things can be fallible and have an aspect of uncertainty to them anyway (have you ever met Caesar?). Look at nature, or a cityscape of people all processing their own little bit of data as they perform their given tasks. Then you can see true change, come to see the nature of men and reality.
I will however stress that your senses shouldn't be all of what's trusted here, men do have an aspect of perception beyond them and as you can see, they can fail you at times. Just consider a wax candle: It's hard, smooth, smells a certain way, and looks to be a cylinder. Light it, and before your eyes it is now soft, sticky, and a mess of matter with no lasting shape. You know it to be the same candle, but if all its properties can change and it remains the same candle, how can the idea of the candle come from your senses? On a somewhat similar note, things like math can exist outside of immediate observation.

It's REAL, I know it is. My experience with this phenomenon is firsthand, specifically with the Bragg's shift. That's what absolutely sent me over the edge into total confidence. Why? Because I saw the shift happen before my very eyes. I'll type up my story a little later.
