I blame it on all this irc shit people keep posting on the site. ircs drive users off the board and into some non-anonymous circle-jerk.
I think smiley is also to blame for shitting up the community in the first place. I liked smiley as a poster, but giving him any power over the board was a big mistake imo.
>IRC
Well, people are always free to do as they like. I don't think it detracts too much since there is always a place for a more permanent archive of things or for the more polished information or just public non-realtime discuessions. If you couldn't get an answer from
Questions whether they arrise in the questions thread (or any other) or even in IRC help highlight where futher threads, articles, or even just editoral modificiations are needed to clarify the concepts and precepts necessary for the neophyte.
>smiley
Aside from all his shitposts (and mostly on /loosh/) he hasn't done anything else since then. And while I would have wished otherwise, but it seems as though nothing bad has really come of it (aside from some hurt feelings). Besides, smiley has decided to stay over at 8/fringe/; if he wants to stay there, I say let him (and after the utter temper tantrum he threw and all the drama about this site I'm quite inclined to such).
>ded site
fringechan is still coming along; sure it may not be that fast, but once you removed the shit, it never was. We've gotten nearly 2,000 posts in about a month (and even shitposts and importing aside, we still have at least 1,500ish). That is more posts than freedom board got in it's first six months of life and the quality is near that par.
I wouldn't worry about it, I think you guys are impatient, expecting a hustling & busteling magic community to spring up over night. Progress is being made and things are developing & growing. Be patient.
About the smiley thing I was just saying he was a bad board owner on 8ch, I know he isn't the board owner here. The catalog was always filled with spam there. Its a big improvement in quality already on this board by not having spam.
Having so many boards makes stuff seem more dead.
There truly is no reason for /astral/ and /div/ to exist when all their content can be absorbed into /fringe/.
>but giving him any power over the board was a big mistake imo.
☻ here. How exactly does me having power make a difference to the users? I haven't persecuted anyone. In fact I have not done a single thing so far using my admin powers. inb4 people complain I do nothing, I will probably do something, eventually... just think of me as an insurance policy, I can unban people, or call out hotpocketry as necessary
>people responding seriously to the ded bort shitposter from /4chon/
Guys, he just likes to post "ded bort", it's a meme. He doesn't mean the board is actually dead. He even posts this shit on fast boards. I've seen him do it.
People should use the board to talk instead of the IRCs.
Too much circlejerking in the Order of Fringe Wizards skype chat and the IRCs...
They should post all their inane bants to /loosh/ instead.
>he was a bad board owner on 8ch
What the fuck dude.
>The catalog was always filled with spam there.
It gets dealt with.
>Its a big improvement in quality already on this board by not having spam.
Sooner or later as the place grows, spammers will find the board, and you will see the same shit here.
Also as the popularity of any places goes up (you get more posting activity) the quality will go down (though there might actually in fact be MORE quality posts overall, just the ratio will changed, as there'll be lots of shitposting accompanying the quality stuff).
You will need to learn to accept at some point you just have to skim past the shitposts and shit threads to find what you want to read.
I was being way too harsh. You weren't a bad board owner, but spam threads would go undeleted for a much longer time than on the other boards I used. Maybe its just an issue of needing more people to help maintain the board. Like I said, I enjoy your posts on the site, just that stricter moderation may be necessary when you get that much spamming.
