Seeing how the same thing happened to 8ch/fringe/ I get the feeling this is not just spam, but rather intentional sabotage to give the site a bad reputation and scare people off.

Quite possible. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was literally alphabet soup fishing for a way to get anons V& who got too much knowledge/power.
