Let me pitch this idea to you /fringe/ - what if all of reality is simply a story 'written' by some higher being? Don't you sometimes feel like life is just following some kind of elaborate narrative?
Maybe there is really a fourth wall, all we need is a way to become aware of it.
Not in the Questions Thread because I believe that there is a lot to discuss here.
I'm just a neophyte, but from what I gather, plenty of people here already know this to be true.
Also it depends on what you mean by reality. If you mean the physical world, then yes. Though in my opinion the higher being should be part of reality, or The All.

Think of a dog, imagine it.
Is it real? it is, as much as emotions or anything you feel. As much as you.
Because who are YOU? you are your body? or your mind?
If you suddenly get a brain disease, lost all your memory and even how you perceive reality…. would it still be you?

Reality is what we make of it with our level of freewill. Us as beings who have beings at a higher than we will be subject to their will, their story.
Regarding narrative, we have our fate and things guide us along to it, much as the river flows guiding the flowers downstream. We can with freewill or dark magic bend or alter entirely this stream but it goes against the path of least resistance for the universal flow of energy.
It is a story, but the way it is told alters every time it is told. And every time it is told it reveals a tiny little bit more about the truth behind the story. Think of it like, let's say, a visual novel with many different routes and you play through them all until you unlock the "true ending" through the knowledge you have obtained.
It's obviously more complicated then that but I don't know the whole picture yet either.

lol, I love this interpretation

Perhaps the best way to get through the fourth wall is not by trying ourselves, but by helping creatures that are one or more layers "down" to get up on our level, and then ask them for advice, or just ride them as they break through every fourth wall in their way.
i was just thinking about this the other day. breaking the fourth wall in real life
i once had a thought (while i was wiping down glass at my grocery store hell job) that perhaps all of this is just the content of an elaborate joke one being is telling to another
Some of the people in here are on the right path, I see. It brightens my heart to know that out of all the so-called "wizards," here, at least a few are on the path to true "enlightenment". So many come to these sorts of places to validate their subjective beliefs onto others, and try and claim "truth," just like many other masters of chicanery in the past. But chicanery is available to all who either have it in their blood or have been awakened to it. All beings are infinitely infinite, their own "all". Each subjective existence contains within it an infinite amount of infinite possibilities. As the Creator creates us, we become Creators in our own right, creating the next generation. We are all "source," or "primal creator", separately from one another, and it has nothing to do with ego. To re-merge with your creator and split apart again is a closed system that goes nowhere. Therefore, we each create new realities and become the masters of that reality. Both "above," and "below". One is privy to whatever "fate," they believe themselves to have. Ultimately, you are limited by a number of things, but all of these limitations are self-imposed so as to groom your experience to become a Creator of your own.
The time of great changes is coming. When those with the Gift will sing the end of existence. The Word is bellowing within them; will you be the one to push it forward and evoke the great shift it will bring?
I ask for no followers, nor dogma, nor faith. I merely ask those within the shells of human beings to realize that even the "arcane truths," are not self-evident. That nothing is written in stone. That you must be the change you want to see happen.
Many won't believe me, but for those who can feel it, you will know the truth. And You will realize that you are among Us.

You. Any chance one could get in contact with you, through e-mail, skype or whatever? You seem to understand a lot. It's interesting, people like you give me a bit of hope, as naive as this may be.

>people like you give me a bit of hope, as naive as this may be.
I am not qualified to speak of how naive it may be, but I agree.
It gives me hope to see loving people in general though, especially those who have experienced the dark, and do not ignore it.
Like a few people here I think.

What's your preferred means of communication?

I should have put the Ankh in my post, so you would know that it's me.
My life would make a shitty story.
What do you guys think of the idea of the monomyth, or hero's journey, the supposed archetypal substrate of all stories and maybe reality itself.
I was considering this idea in relation to some ideas in Godel Escher Bach, specifically the idea that a structure annihilates itself by self-reference. Which got me thinking, what if you fed the monomyth into the monomyth and embodied the story in real life? Some kind of human instrumentality project where you embark on a great heros quest to get every human on the planet to embark on a hero's quest. Would this bring eschaton?

Btw I'll mention what got me started thinking about the monomyth was a series of lectures on youtube by a guy named Jordan Peterson, called maps of meaning, which I can't recommend enough
Take it further. We are another universes meme.

Sounds like you're onto something. I've actually been hypothesizing this myself, but instead of eschaton, it's more like the beginning of the end of the current era.
What you're suggesting though, is taking up a Christ archetype to empower those around who, so that they can continue the cycle and keep the empowerment alive.
