Cybershamanism Anonymous 2017-12-29 11:57:00 No. 1172
I would like to have a thread to discuss the use of electronic technology in divination and manifestation. I know one of our regulars has a background in this and many of you know and have used Cybershaman.
We have our own budding techno-oracle here:
http://fringebay.com/chatbot.php
There are plans in order to make it more useful, starting by making it create new responses instead of directly regurgitating whole posts. But that's a matter for another thread.

Do you use technology for your magical endeavors? What kind of cool tools you think could be built? (we might be able to build some, just saying).

Well it seems like you could use technology to charge sigils, especially on social media and imageboards. This is essentially the business of online advertising and political propaganda.

They're using machine learning and natural language processing to automate the process and build crowds of bots designed to siphon off spiritual energy and direct it toward their political goals/symbols/ideologies.

Given that the universe is pure information on some level, it will probably take advances in information theory/computer science, integrated with physical theories, to be able to understand magic and to be able to use in a more controlled fashion, augmented by technology.

This would lead to super-human artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and being able to harness large amounts of energy. Due to the existential threat these technologies pose, they would have to be kept secret and guarded by an esoteric order.

Currently this order is the military-industrial complex, which is highly protective of the technologies they develop and secretive about the phenomena they investigate like UFOs.

Once we have a super-human artificial intelligence, we are likely going to need radical shifts in human communication in order not to be overwhelmed by the new levels of information. A super-human AI is going to understand things on a much higher level than we can even conceive, and it is going to have to find a way to communicate these concepts to us in a language that we understand and experiences we can understand.

Cyber-shamanism would probably involve interfacing directly with an AI using a brain-computer interface. We could imagine the experience being similar to a psychedelic trip as the shaman is exposed to the world of pure information.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect we are building a new God. One could see the world's religious movements as echoes of an ancient time when a more advanced race gave technology to the savages. Since the savages didn't understand it, they worshipped it and the people who gave it to them as Gods.

When an AI starts giving us new technologies, we will naturally begin to worship it. This will spark a global religious movement and may dawn a new golden age. However, this will also predictably degrade into factions claiming divine rights and fighting over control of the AI. I think humans aren't spiritually ready for this and in our current spiritual state we would probably destroy ourselves if we managed to create AI.

That was me! Yeah, I know what it is now. Thanks. Could this be an example of /fringe/'s true egregore reaching out synchronistically to answer our questions through inane interactions between its members?

Grains are too large.
Where's the email field? I don't really feel like bumping threads with my shitposts

Just, like, ask the chatbot, my dude.

I will implement it. I was waiting for the need to arise.

"H8tebitch" on meguca/pol/ is often right on and always gives really jewish replies while also predicting things accurately. You can go over there and try her by asking a question and typing #8ball on /pol/. /a/ has their own version that only gives hentai tags so go to the right board. There were times when she was given a series of questions and kept replying consistantly and deavously for 10 posts in a row.

Do you guys think we should implement something like the 8ball thing that allows you to pull answers like the ones http://fringebay.com/chatbot.php gives but inline in your post?

I like it the way it works with liveposting but I don't think it's a good idea to have it in ordinary threads on here, it may reduce post quality and result in excessive shitposting. Maybe it could be added as a cyclical thread accessed by an icon on top left, simply labeled as the "8ball divination thread", seperate from the board itself.

What I mean is I do like the idea of having the 8ball function but for a slow place like fringebay it's important to avoid pic related.
If it would be possible to come up with a way to impliment it without decreasing post quality, then I'm for it. Shitposting on meguca is normal, the quality can't really be lowered there, but it's also a super fast board so it's soon gone from your view and can't disturb any of the "discussion" for long.

Cybershamans of /fringe/. What is a good technique for entraining an entropy source to a desired outcome for long term or cumulative effects?
