Seems like the U.S. and western culture have past the 'behavior sink', so the traditionalist aspects of society which limited neo paganism and occultism are evaporating with the old society. I wonder if this presents an opportunity for us, outside the 'good ol boys' of traditionalist lodges, to start a new age of esoteric fraternal orders? If so, what would be the best way to go about it? How many would be interested in meeting in a video chat to have an open but anonymous forum to discuss it?
No.17007
I might be interested. I have been planning on opening a temple of sorts if I get the funds.

You can't just decide to open a lodge. You need to actually reach a decent level of mastery first, otherwise the best you'll get is a study group.

Really the temple I had planned was a front for a money laundering operation but I need money to launder first. In the meantime I suppose actual masters could make use of the space.

So, what then did the first lodge of any order do? What did the very first lodge do? Also, that seems pretty conformist, needing some level of mastery in what?

No.17020>>17021
Was there ever a point to these? I feel like people become more powerful when they are inside of themselves rather than in a group, even if the group is about following that very concept, paradoxically. What would be the goal to have something like this?

Honestly? Easy energy boost and cheap thrills with kinky sky clad rituals.

The first lodge of any order/temple/school/lineage is opened by a reincarnated master, or someone who attained mastery through training with an incarnated or spiritual teacher (the latter especially back in pre-history).

The whole purpose of these organizations is to provide an organized setting for training and teaching future adepts and masters - this can't be done unless there's a master present to begin with. It's like a bunch of 6 year olds getting together and deciding to start a classroom to learn math, english etc. without a school infrastructure, principle, teacher, etc.

PropTip: Any open groups you can just join are meaningless fronts for something else.

Reincarnated master of what? Sounds like an Archon control scheme in that context. 'Oh to do this with any value, you need the secret teachings' Thats exactly why I left O.T.O. and GD. Would get to the 'inner' degrees, and realize in terms of the fraternity, it was part pyramid scheme, part pecking order maintenance of a hierarchy.

I'm not sure what the distinction between a study group and a fraternal order really is. If there's a hierarchy, or formal sense of organization, it would qualify as being an order. Qualifying for the term fraternal is equally trivial

Read "The Wanderling" site.

The most powerful magic practitioners are invariably lone wolves or if they do operate in groups it's familial or related to a soul complex or something, basically, strangers can't apply and it's really fucking hard to get in unless you're both really powerful and working on the same stuff as them. Most wizards just go it alone or if they have contact with others it's kept long-range telepathic.
