I'm trying to study the power of affirmations at the moment. I've had a look through a couple of libraries but haven't had much success.

Can anyone recommend any books, articles, videos or sources in general concerning the use of affirmations?

First got interested when I found out that Scott Adams of Dillbert fame, alleged IQ north of 180, repeats his affirmations/long term goals 15 separate times a day. He's a buttoned down kind of guy, affirmations is the only kind of /fringe/ tier belief he seems to follow.

First three steps of the mental exercises of "Initiation into Hermetics' by Franz Bardon are pretty good to get your mind ready and receptive to suggestions. You don't have to do the physical and magical training exercises of the first 3 steps. Just the mental exercises.

You can search for positive affirmations on google. realsubliminal.com has good sets of affirmations for specific goals, although I wouldn't recommend using any subliminal audios you don't create yourself. Record the affirmations in voice form and learn some audio editing and create your own audios.

You can even start creating unique symbols of these affirmations and start casting sigils. Check out phil hine - condensed chaos for info on that.

Learning to feel even a minute of pure (or as pure as possible) physical and mental relaxation everyday, should be number 1 on your list before doing this. I've noticed that feeling even 5 seconds of physical relaxation everyday, whether from yoga, exercise, etc., significantly unclutters your head and you've got more clarity throughout the day. Just 5 seconds. Extend that to 15 minute or 30 will work wonders to empty your mind to input affirmations. Interestingly, relaxation depolarizes and detaches you from your programming, so you can even observe your previous programming from better perspective and even transform those.

This is what I would suggest if you're looking for some practical techniques.

If you want to go deeper, you can look into something Hermetic. I like the Kybalion for knowledge of the principles and Initiation into Hermetics for practical purposes, but I would recommend looking into Stepher E. Flowers' 'Hermetic Magic.' for a more scholarly but simplified and historical understanding of the roots and influences and different schools of thought in relation to Hermeticism.

I would dump most of the WWA stuff. Look for books that are stand alone, containing concise theory and practice. If an author cannot do that then they usually are more adept at writing than the actual work.

Astral projection is simply the projection of your awareness. IIH is likely your best bet if you have no foundation yet.

Many people who become interested in esoteric phenomena fall into a trap believing they can contact "other realms", gods, demons, aliens, alternate dimensions etc. These are mental constructs though not necessarily yours. Well you are going to have to reduce some of your free time in order to make new time for your work.
