I have been up pretty much every day and only getting like 30 minutes to maybe 2 hours of very poor and interrupted sleep in the mornings. No matter what I can't sleep at all during the night. I've thought about taking melatonin again but the last couple times I did that I ended up self-harming afterwards and the hypnotic state it puts me into seems to give permission to all manner of entities to fuck with me as they please. Anyways the advice I can offer you is enter a trance and listen to some music that invokes the energy you want. try to get into the most relaxed/hypnotic mental state possible, relax your body and release all tension and just let the music carry your body to a new rhythm. When I do this it usually fills me with happiness and energy and even makes me dance sometimes. But of course it depends on the energy the music invokes and how deep you can get into trance.

The way I conceptualize myself is as a package of mental influences that can be drawn/attracted into a matrix, the energetic signatures of things being transformed/switched-out, and the process of identification with the new condition being a truth concerning MY body making the transformation possible.

So, I've been trying to do some practical experimentation while going through the occult library/doing research on Onmyoudō; without getting into a bunch of details, I'm trying to make an energy battery by way of a large jar of energized water I can used for carrying intent/as offerings, and I tried to make an ofuda (paper talisman) marked with sigils to seal it (since I'm going to be opening and closing it a bunch)- only problem is I can't get it to stick.

It's recommended to use rice paper (sacred properties) and wet one end to stick it to the subject, but I only have printer paper to hand and when it dries out, the paper wrinkles and it falls off. Do you think just cutting a Post-It note in half would be any less effective?

Are you not reading the books in the FAQ? Even just the Hermetic Laws, which is in the first few pages of the first book, would explain most of this to you. Thoughtsforms are beings created out of thought, and depending on how much loosh/energy/power they have, they're more or less sentient. You are a thoughtform in the mind of THE ALL, for example. There is no tricking, it is simple truth. If THE ALL IS MIND, then thoughts are real. Simple as that.

Thoughtforms are not the only thing you can do, they are just a manipulation of energy created through thought. You can do energy work, sigil work, evocation, anything really. There is no limit because the law of mentalism is the highest law. You can use the higher laws against the lower when you know how (through experience) and in that way you can eventually reach a point where your belief is literally all that matters. But there's other laws that prevent that right now, not to mention all the disinformation you learned and all the beings that control your life and mind.

The thing about magick is that you stop relying on books and start understanding what to do and experimenting. You would use visualization and will. How I would do it, is that I would hold the physical object that it is in (you did say that, right?) while meditating and visualize a link between the thoughtform (not the object) and the sun. Feel and see the sun beaming down into the thoughtform and it becoming empowered.

Everything is a thought in the mind of THE ALL because nothing exists outside of THE ALL. So in that sense, yes. But that's just proper classification, it's not like humans are special for being thoughtforms. Sigils are tools that redirect energy from one thing to another. When you look at a sigil, you're giving loosh (as you do with everything you ever pay mind to) to it which gives loosh to whatever its intent was. I've never really thought of it as a thoughtform.

Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on thoughtforms. We're all technically thoughtforms, but they're not the only thing that matters. Modern science doesn't only focus on neurons/electrons/protons just because that's what everything comes down to in their belief. The other anon said thoughtforms are the only thing that matters, and that's wrong. I've never posted here before because I'm not really into esoterism. That said, I'm a skeptical, I need to see things for myself to believe in them; that's why the concept of a god is not something I can just accept.

When I try to meditate a figure often enters my thoughts. The shape differs, but I think it might represent my fear of.. fear. Or lack of control. From a purely mundane psychological standpoint.

Desire for temporary things, that are not you and that can cause suffering are the things meant to get ride off in buddhism.

If your desire is something that lead to something permanent, and if represents your real self and not your ego self, and also ceases suffering, than thats a good 'desire'.

For instance if you look at a relationship, and take that as your raison detre, you could apply the logic. Its that permanent? Even if it lasts, its not. Even if you meet each other in another life that could just be a way to suffer even more. Even if suffering was not present but the pure positive desire, you could just end up in the wheel of life because of that. You two would be attached to something thats not even the real self.

Enlightnenment would be a permanent state of mind in which the person has no attachment to the wordly things and thus has no reason to return. This would be a permanent state of bliss in which you see the things for what they are. Theres not really a frustration in that path unless you cant get results. The traditional way to cease the suffering is to meditate in everything you desire that can cause you suffering and try to analise it. Why do you want a car? A house?, etc. You try to filter everything that you would be able to retain after this life and you would end up with your spirit, not the house or the car. Guess your soul has to be poulised to perfection tho.

First thing you should do, in my opinion, is to shut down your internal voice. Stay in silence and embrace it with acceptance. Do not force your mind to shut, let her shut by itself. Focus on your breath or a mantra. Being able to shut the mind at will its very useful. Get an NLP or the silva method trick which is just do an association between the stillness state and a simbol, a sound, color or touch.

The Kybalion is not Hermetic. Its "laws" are nothing more than an adaptation and extension of 1800s/1900s New Thought and Theosophy, which are both fairly recent movements compared to Hermeticism.

The Corpus Hermeticum is, in my opinion, one of the least appreciated/studied hermetic texts, which is kind of sad. Clement Salaman's "The Way of Hermes" is an excellent translation of it, and also includes a discussion between Hermes and Tat/Asclepius (I forget which one off the top of my head) in a series of 49 aphorisms that, together, illustrate a Hermetic worldview.
