I will assume you exclusively mean Astrology, as the occult field of study expands far outside astrology.

Astrology for me personally is strictly a symbolic system only affected by space to the extent we invent meanings in our minds based on the objective states of astronomic objects. This in turn inspires swathes of people to reinforce these associated meanings in the minds of themselves and others, which then creates a self-fulfilling prophecy and in certain cases a mass placebo effect.

ummm…. no, I think I mean something closer to "pretty much everything" rather than "exclusively astrology." But, I will say that none of this has to do directly with ritual/ceremonial magick – that is, this is on the academic side rather than the practitioner side.

I do have an update as well. I think we're actually going to start off with a different reading – one on hermeneutics – as I believe this to be essential to our endeavor. I'm going to read through the cuts I have so I can narrow it down to just the essential reading portion. I think myself or someone else might upload the texts (pdf) somewhere, and I'll definitely post ITT when/if that happens.
